When your car's "Immune System" attacks the body 🚗🛡️

We’ve all been there: You’re in a rush, you punch the code into the immobilizer... and nothing. The system locks you out.

We’ve all been there: You’re in a rush, you punch the code into the immobilizer... and nothing. The system locks you out.Best case scenario? You’re 20 minutes late.Average case? You’re stuck on the shoulder for an hour, waiting for a service representative to “reset” your life. It’s a nuisance today. But in the software-defined vehicles of tomorrow? It’s a critical safety risk. The Intrusion Prevention ParadoxThe automotive world is moving from real-time “detection” to “prevention.” But there’s a huge pitfall: False Positives. In the IT world, a false positive triggers Alert Fatigue, leading to wasted resources and the risk of missing a real breach. In a car, the stakes are different: a "Safe Mode" that drops your speed to 60 km/h—or triggers emergency braking—while you’re doing 120 km/h on the highway. The “Autoimmune” AttackAttackers no longer need to bypass security to disable a car. They just need to make enough “noise” to trick the car into thinking it’s under attack. The security system then becomes a weapon against the car—a digital autoimmune disease. The feature meant to protect you becomes the one that shuts us down (DoS), turning a security tool into a serious safety hazard. The Bottom LineWe must move from probabilistic models that “guess” attacks to Deterministic Protection. We need 100% accuracy that eliminates background noise without ever compromising passenger safety.Because if a system can’t tell the difference between a hacker and the driver, it isn't protecting the car—it’s attacking it.I’m interested in hearing your thoughts—let’s open this up for discussion:1️⃣ The Professional Side: Is the industry rushing into active prevention before we’ve truly solved the False Positive problem?2️⃣ The Personal Side: What’s your worst “locked out of my own car” horror story?jump in and let me know your take in the comments! 👇hashtaghashtag#AutomotiveCybersecurity hashtaghashtag#CyberSecurityhashtaghashtag#ConnectedCars hashtaghashtag#FalsePositiveshashtaghashtag#SafetyFirst hashtaghashtag#SmartMobilityNot my claim, but a well-documented realityhttps://lnkd.in/dvCUjZKa‍https://lnkd.in/d3WUMS2f
